Other distinguished guests in attendance included Mr.Ian Keith Dunn - Pro-vice chancellor (student empowerment) of Coventry University; Ian Webster – Senior Lecturer, International Strategic Support for Sport and Event Management and Link Tutor of Coventry University and ; Mr.Michael Lin – Group Managing Director Auston Institute of Management; Prof. S. Gopinathan – Fellow, National Institute of Education, Singapore and Chairman of the Academic Advisory Board of Auston Institute of Management; Dr.T.A.G. Gunesekara, Director Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa; Dr.Thennakoon, Director, Institute of Technology, Katunayake; and senior academics.
The awards presented at the ceremony included Bachelor of Engineering (honours) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering (honours) in Computers, Networking and Communications Technology, and Bachelors degree in Business, Bachelor of Science (honours) in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science (honours) in Engineering Business Management, Bachelor of Science (honours) in Network and Mobile Computing, Bachelor of Arts in Business and Finance, Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Business and Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Marketing Management, Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Business and Marketing.
Students who had completed Diploma and Advanced Diploma stages were also presented with their awards. Diplomas were presented in the categories of Computers, Electronics and Communications, Business, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Advanced Diploma in Business from the Auston Institute of Management. Meanwhile, students who had displayed significant achievements in their academic performance were awarded with best performer awards as well.
Prof. Gopinathan addressing the graduating students at the ceremony said “for those on the academic side, our greatest joy is to see the students do well. So, I give you my heartfelt congratulations and wish you the best in all your future plans”. Mr. Ian Keith Dunn addressing the graduates at the event said “to see students, come on stage and get their award is one of the most beautiful moments in academics. It is a moment that marks your transformation as a global graduate”. He further added “With a qualification from Coventry University, you have a degree that is internationally portable – recognised and valued across the world. In turn, as you move out in to the global marketplace, you are ambassadors for Auston and Coventry University, and I am absolutely confident that our reputations will be enhanced by each of you through your interactions in business, commerce and industry”.
