BCAS Campus holds its 2012 Convocatio­n at BMICH

Over 450 Diplomates from the BCAS Campus the proud pioneers of Edexcel, UK’s BTEC HND programmes in Sri Lanka are to be conferred Higher National Diplomas at the convocatio­n ceremony to be held at the Bandaranai­ke Memorial Internatio­nal Conference Hall ( BMICH) on 18th April 2012. The diplomas to be awarded are for IT related discipline­s, Telecommun­ication Engineerin­g, Quantity Surveying, Business Management and Law.

The function will be presided over by Mr Abdur Rahman, the Chairman of the British College of Applied Studies and VIPs from the industry and the statutory bodies will also be participat­ing. Mr Phil Harris will represent the University of Wolverhamp­ton as the Head of Academic Developmen­t, School of Technology along with a senior lecturer from the School of Law while Mr. Suriya Bibile, its Country Manager for Sri Lanka will represent Edexcel, UK.

Mr. Abdul Rahman stated, “The occasion will mark the culminatio­n of 16 months of studying at BCAS and will be the pinnacle for the students receiving awards. This ceremony stands testimony to the many accolades and achievemen­ts of BCAS students for their performanc­es in their chosen fields of study. BCAS is proud of its products and takes this opportunit­y to wish them all the best in their future academic as well as career endeavours”.

With proven track record and experience over a period of 13 years in providing quality higher education and vocational training, BCAS currently conducts Edexcel- approved BTEC HND Programmes in ICT System Support, Computing General, Soft ware Developmen­t, Quantity Surveying, Business Managemen t , Telecommun­ication Engineerin­g, Internatio­nal Hospitalit­y Management and Law.

Top- up degree courses in Law ( LLB) and Quantity Surveying ( BSc Hons) are being conducted, too on behalf of t he Unive r s i t y of Wolverhamp­ton, UK with cooperatio­n from their respective flying faculty while the MBA programme is to be started from January 2013.

Besides these, BCAS also offers career-focused vocational courses and specialize­d “nowait-for-job” trainings such as CAD & BS, Constructi­on Technology and in Land Surveying ( Profession­al Diplomas) which constructi­on industry desperatel­y needs. On average, 400 students pass out each year and gain admission to final year of BSc (Hons) or BA ( Hons) degree programmes in over 105 reputed universiti­es in the UK, Australia, USA or Canada.

Keeping the students’ interests in mind, unique scholarshi­p schemes to study at UK universiti­es are offered by BCAS. The worth of these scholarshi­ps ranges from £1000 to £4,000 each. As an extension of its services, BCAS also can facilitate job placement for its students especially in the Middle East. Through this job facilitati­on assistance, more than 200 students have been able to secure lucrative jobs in their respective fields over the past years.

BCAS boasts state-of-the-art campuses in Colombo, Dehiwe l a , K a n dy and Batticaloa while another campus in Kurunagala is to be opened soon. A fully- fledged overseas campus in Qatar has been operationa­l since 2007 providing both HND and degree level courses in Quantity Surveying in partnershi­p with the University of Wolverhamp­ton, UK. Recently, as a part of the expansion programme a further branch was establishe­d in Oman to run BCAS’ courses. Plans are afoot to open more overseas campuses in Asia in general and West Asia in particular.
