Festive fun at the British School carnival

The British School Christmas Carnival on December 8 at the British School in Colombo grounds at 63, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8 from 2 – 8 p.m. promises festive fun for the whole family.

The carnival is organised by the British School Community Council (BSCC), essentiall­y a group of parents who arrange activities to enrich the students education and school life.

Tickets are priced at Rs150 for adults and Rs 50 for children (5-12yrs) while children under the age of 5 will not require a ticket.

There will be fun and games for all ages! All games and rides are reasonably priced from Rs 20 each. Older children can look forward to unusual rides and games, including the popular ‘Dunk Tank’ and many others.

Chapters bookstore is conducting a fun quiz in the central courtyard and the school choirs, dancing society and orchestra will be performing with even a sing-a-long session to allow all to join in some carolling!

The Entertrain­ers will be conducting a free Zumba demonstrat­ion in the centre court yard.

Younger children have a preschool area designated to them with a bouncer and coin rides on a safe playing ground.

Christmas craft activities which may be signed up for in advance are being conducted by Milk and Busy Hands for children aged between 3 and 14 yrs. This allows parents to have some time to enjoy the trade areas of the fair themselves!

Arugam Bay, Embark, Raspberry from Leather Collection, Upeksha, and others will be there for your fashion needs, also new brand Friskybox making funky socks and boxer shorts and popular sports shop Glory Sports with their wide range of swimwear and sports equipment.

There will be boutique jewellery from Tina Senanayake and Ayne Nalir who was recently featured in the NY Times!

The Christmas Raffle has around 30 prizes to be won, for which tickets are priced at Rs100.

1st Prize- Week’s stay at Coco Palms, Dhuni Kohlu Resort in the Maldives on Full board basis with 2 airline tickets to Male.

2nd Prize-32” LCD TV Screen from Akiko.

3rd Prize-Blue Topaz Ring from Careem Jewellers.

There are also stays to be won at the new hotels Anilana Passikudah and Amethyst Passikudah, Family Membership at Lifestyle Gym, Kite Surfing packages, a mobile phone, dinner vouchers and many gift packs. The draw will be held at 6 p.m. in the central courtyard. If the winner is not present, they will be called to be informed that they won a prize.

All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go to Clarendon Home for Girls, Mount Lavinia.

Tickets will be available at the gate.
