SLIM and Nielsen Peoples Awards 2013 this month

-

The 8th edition of the “SLIM-Nielsen Peoples Awards” takes place this month as brands battle to take home the coveted metals.

Held under the theme of “The True Voice of Sri Lanka”, the awards ceremony, organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) together with Nielsen Research Agency in Sri Lanka, recognises brands and personalities that have impacted the lives of Sri Lankans, according to a SLIM media release.

“The Peoples Awards stands out from other awards ceremonies as it allows the public to rate their favourite brands, personalities, advertisements, films, tele-dramas etc. No independent person or company can apply for recognition for the awards, and instead the winners are adjudged by the consumers depicting the views of the people based on what is close to their hearts and minds,” SLIM said.

SLIM’s Vice President Gamika de Silva said that research is key to any marketer as it is the only way to gauge what the customer wants, their profile and what they will need in the future. Any strategic decision should be validated by research findings and this is the how marketers should develop the competitive advantage for their product/ service.

He said it’s SLIM’s objective to educate and encourage Sri Lankan marketer’s of the power of research.

Winners for the awards are selected through a series of surveys conducted by Nielsen, , interviews and surveys administered throughout the country, that underwent a stringent process of surveying and assessing consumer insights. The events took place over a period of five months.
