“Agaram” is a CSR initiative administered by Shakthi FM with the objective of educating all Sri Lankan children. . Upon realizing the need of providing the much needed support for the underprivileged children who are faced with many obstacles that hinders their right to receive a stable education, Shakthi FM , started this CSR project. Agaram also focuses on combating and creating awareness on the psychological impact of child labor and a number of other issues that affect children. While moving to actively

provide solutions to overcome these areas of concern, Agaram aids children from all over the country to attend schools.

Through Agaram, for the 3rd consecutive year in 2012, Shakthi FM has been successful in educating thousands of children by organizing educational seminars and conducting workshops for both O/L and Grade 5 Schilarship students. With a view of creating

a complete, proficient and an effective learning experience for these children, Agaram acts as a catalyst that provides amenities such as books, desks, shoes and other necessary supplies to facilitate the schools.

Shakthi FM has developed Agaram to offer an outstanding service to the children of our society by presenting scholarships to deserving students, a significant and a valuable step that takes this CSR initiative to greater heights. On the 23rd of Feb 2013, 20 students who attended the Agaram work shop and who excelled in their examination with the best results obtained at the Grade 5 scholarship examination were Felicitated. The event took place in Jaffna at the Vembadi girls school at the opening ceremony of the Education fair “Kalvikangachi” which is also organized by Shakthi FM as another initiative under the CSR initiative Agaram with the motive of encouraging and “educating the future generation”.

The Agaram Grade 5 felicitation was a major success with the students receiving a scholarship monetary fund to support their future education. The scholarship funds were given in a savings passbook, with also the intention of encouraging parents to cultivate the habit of savings for the child’s education. The students also received other valuable gifts which would be of immense benefit for their further educational endeavors. The parents and families represented these outstanding and well deserving children who came from 10 locations namely, Batticaloa, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Puttalam, Akkaraipattu, Jaffna, Vadamaratchi, Killinotchi and Mullaitheevu.
