Susantha, Aslam, Rasheed record second win

Defending national snooker champion Susantha Boteju of YMCA along with S.H.M. Aslam of MSC and M.S.M. Rasheed of POP recorded their second win of the 61st National Snooker Championship which is in progress now at the Billiards and Snooker Association billiards table at Sugathadasa Hotel in Colombo.

Susantha however had to strive hard for his win in the seven frames encounter against Tishan Samarasinghe of OAC whom he defeated by four frames to three.

In contrast Aslam and Rasheed had little difficulty in brushing off the challenge from their opponents. Aslam coasted to an easy four frames to two win over M.M. Mubeen of Army while Rasheed recorded back to back to wins.

Rasheed first got the better of Major W.M. Chandradasa of Army (4/1) and then overcame A.A. Kareem of MSC (4/2). Tishan Samarasinghe and A.A. Kareem later won their second match over M.Y.M. Aariff of MICH and Major W.M. Chandradasa.

Army’s Mubeen who lost earlier came back to secure a win against K.H. Sirisoma of SLPA by four frames to one. Others to record wins were M.Y.M. Shafraz (MICH), Rouzan Ali (MICH), M.R.T. Chandana (Sealord), M.I.M. Rifai (MICH), Anver Azeez (MSC) and M.Z.A. Zulfey (Romanz).The 61st National Snooker Championship conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association is sponsored by Sumathi Group of Companies. The round robin matches will be continued today from 10.00 a.m. onwards.
