Graduate 2 YEARS early than your peers by starting University entrance education after O/levels

-

After completing the Local O/ Level examination a student’s next step is to look for the best higher education options for him/ her to qualify to enter their intended careers in the future. Traditionally the step a student and parent takes is to continue higher education in Local A/Levels in a selected study area such as Commerce, Mathematics, Bioscience etc. After studying for 2 years of A/ Levels a student sit for A/ Level examination and then waits another 6 months to receive the results. All this pro- cess takes nearly 3 year with the time they wait to start A/Levels after O/Levels and waiting time for A/ Level results. After this 3 year duration only 14% of the students who for A/Levels get the local university entrance, balance 86% doesn’t get the university entrance. So the majority needs to find a pathway to go for higher education. Some of them decide to repeat their A/ Level examination and certain seek other higher education options. Rather than going through this strenuous pathway now students have the chance of starting one year university preparation programme soon after their O/Levels and enter the university after completing this programme. By following this pathway students get a chance to enter the university 2/3 years (with calculating the A/Level duration and the time they wait to enter the university) ahead of their peers.

ANC Education has been in the forefront of Sri Lanka’s private education sector by offering Sri Lankan students a world-class education. ANC offers Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) pro- gramme for students after O/ Levels. MUFY is designed and endorsed by Monash University, Australia.

MUFY is an equivalent qualification to A/Levels and Australian Year 12 and considered as one of the recognized university entrance qualification world wide. This is recognized by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for student visa purposes - a requirement that most other foundation programmes offered in Sri Lanka do not satisfy. Thus, MUFY allows admission into the full range of undergraduate degrees at Monash University and all other Australian Universities. MUFY is also accepted by top universities in the UK, Malaysia,Singapore and New Zealand. Most importantly, MUFY is a university-designed programme specifically intended for students entering university.

Whether you are planning for a career in medicine, business, information technology, engineering, science, or the arts, the MUFY programme’s

flexible format enables you to tailor your study for the degree of your choice. The teaching methods and continuous internal assessments offered to students emulate a true university academic style.

What makes MUFY different from the A/levels is that the final grades for A/levels are based solely on exams whereas with MUFY results are based on a universitystyle continual assessment process where exams are only part of the grade. Moreover, the programme is one year in duration compared to A/Levels which are a two year programme. Thus, starting MUFY after O/Levels provides students with a true university experience and the opportunity of graduating and entering the workforce two years ahead of their peers who opted for A/Level studies.

The MUFY syllabus is delivered over two semesters with examinations held at the end of each semester and internal assessment conducted throughout the semesters. Therefore, a student’s overall grade is determined by the average of their entire performance in both semesters, including internal assessments and examinations. This enables the student to obtain a better reflection of their true abilities and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the subject content they study. For MUFY students, starting at ANC Education offers a smooth transition, academically and socially, from studying in their home country to the social and academic environment of an international university abroad.

Many students worldwide seek admission to Monash University campuses in Australia, Malaysia and South Africa, which offer nearly 800 programmes from ten specialized Faculties. Monash is a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight universities and recognised internationally as being top 1% of the world’s best universities – 99th in the world university ranking(Times Higher education world university ranking 2012 – 2013). Monash University has undeniably made its mark as a University of high global standards for quality. A degree from Monash is a student’s first and most important step towards career success.
