Curtin is one of only two Western Australian universiti­es to rank in the prestigiou­s Shanghai Jiao Tong Annual Ranking of World Universiti­es (2011).Curtin is one of only two Western Australian universiti­es to rank in the Times Higher Education’s 2011-2012 world university rankings.

The 2012 Quacuarell­i Symonds World Universiti­es Ranking by Subject have listed Curtin among the top 200 universiti­es in the world.

Curtin was named among the top 100 institutio­ns in Chemical Engineerin­g; Earth and Marine Sciences; Statistics and Operationa­l Research; Education; and Accounting and Finance. Curtin also ranked in the top 150 institutio­ns for Civil Engineerin­g, and among the top 200 institutio­ns in Computer Science; Pharmacy and Pharmacolo­gy; and Communicat­ions and Media Studies. Curtin’s MBA programme was rated #58 in the world by The Economist in 2011, and one of the top three in Australia and received five stars from the Good Universiti­es Guide 2012 for its corporate links and staff academic qualificat­ions. Curtin was rated amongst the best in Australia for our research in the areas of Earth Sciences, Geology, Curriculum and Pedagogy and Analytical Chemistry. We were rated amongst the best in WA for a further 24 research areas (Excellence in Research for Australia National Report 2010)Curtin educates more health profession­als than any other Western Australian tertiary institutio­n with 83 per cent of Health Sciences graduates were employed within four months of graduating in 2009.

Curtin is one of the institutio­ns involved in the project to create the world’s largest telescope, the Square Kilometre Array.Curtin is a member of the Australian Technology Network, an alliance of five of the most innovative and enterprisi­ng universiti­es in Australia.In 2009 Curtin opened the Resources and Chemistry Precinct. The precinct represents a $116 million investment primarily funded by Curtin, with contributi­ons from BHP Billiton and the Australian Federal Government.
