Hansani annexes top U12 TT spot

Hansani Piumila Kapugeekiyana of Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda achieved the No.1 rank in the Under 12 Girl’s Singles category in 2012, according to the ranking list of the Table Tennis Association of Si Lanka.

She claimed the top rank through her victory at the Junior National Table Tennis Championships, held in January 2013, conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka. That was her last match in the Under 12 Girl’s Singles age category. She participated in six ranking TT championships in 2012, out of which she won five and placed second in one.

She represented Sri Lanka at ITTF Hopes programme matches and coaching camps during the last two years. The first of these occasions was in Austria and the second was in Sweden.

Her success in Sri Lanka is due in no small part to the experience and guidance she received at the ITTF Hopes programme, particularly from Dejan Papic (Consultant of the International TT Federation).

Having conquered the Under 12 circuit, Hansani has now shifted her gaze towards the U 15 Girl’s Singles stage, with her work with her coaches continuing to yield large strides in her development.

She is immensely thankful to Dejan Pepic , Jothipala Samaraweera, Gayan Dilupa Vajira Wickkramasinghe , Nuwan Sampath, Kumudi De Silva, for their tireless efforts in bringing her success.

She is also thankful to her parents, her school’s Principal and the staff of Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda.
