St. Benedict's advance to pre-quarterfinals

St. Benedict's recorded a convincing seven-wicket win over Dharmapala Pannipitiya, in the Under 19 inter- schools limited over tournament, played at Darley Road yesterday to advance to the pre-quarterfinals.

St. Benedict's was steered by an unbeaten knock of 51 by Mahel Jayalath which helped the home team, chasing 157 for victory, to reach the target in the 37th over.

St. Sebastian's Moratuwa coasted to a comfortable 105-run win against Maris Stella in their limited over match played at Moratuwa. Sebs skipper Anushka Perera along with Luke Jeyadeva and Avishka Fernando cracked half tons enabling the Sebs to make a formidable score of 251, while Maris Stella in their turn was able to muster only 146.

St Joseph's registered a five-wicket win over Carey in another match played at Darley Road with the Josephians bowling out their opponents for a score of 168 and reaching the target in the 38th over.
