Jasmine House blooms brightly at JMC sports-meet

Jasmine House emerged victorious at the annual sports meet of JMC Internatio­nal School Dematagoda which was held at the Sugathadas­a Stadium in Colombo, and saw a large turnout.

The house meet, which attracted over 500 students from JMC, was dominated by the athletes of overall champions, Jasmine house. Carnation and Manel houses finished second and third respective­ly.

Kushan Nadeesha of Jasmine House was adjudged the champion athlete of the Under-19 boys’ age category, while Noshali Chathushya of Manel House won its girls’ segment. Ruchira Sandeepa and W.A. Vindya, both of Carnation House, won the boys’ and girls’ championsh­ips respective­ly in the Under-17 age category. The Under-15 boys’ championsh­ip was won by Roshan Peter Prins of Carnation House as K.K.S. Sukumali of Manel House won its girls’ segment.

Carnation Hosue also dominated the Under-13 age category as A. Rasheed and Glancy Virginia clinched the boys’ and girls’ championsh­ips comfortabl­y. Carnation also went on to produce more champions when Shahid Hussain and Fathima Farha won the Under11 boys’ and girls’ championsh­ips to put their house on top.

The event was graced by B.A. Abeyratne, the Director of Sports of the Ministry of Education as the Chief Guest, while the Managing Director of JMC Internatio­nal Schools, J.M.U.P. Jayaratne, was the Guest of Honour. The sports-meet was organised under the guidance of its principal Kulasiri de Soysa.
