OSC art students display their talent at The IB Diploma Art Exhibition

-

The IB Diploma Art students of The Overseas School of Colombo ( OSC) will have their Art Exhibition on 30th March at the OSC Auditorium. This event will be open to the public.

Lasting just over a year and a half the IBDP visual arts course is extremely demanding. It is designed to allow students to create their own personalized path through which they create their deeper appreciation of why and how art is made. In addition to producing high quality artwork, students must demonstrate that they are engaged, through thorough investigation, with understanding their own work and artworks from a variety of cultures and times. Each student is encouraged pursue their own theme which guides and provides momentum for their research and studio artworks.

This year we are presenting the work of 19 young visual artists. The media they are using ranges from sculpture to photography, painting, installation pieces and beyond! The themes being explored include Mind, Body and Soul, Perception and Elements of the Human Anatomy.

The Overseas School of Colombo is a non-profit organization and it is the only internationally accredited school in Sri Lanka to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) from Pre-school to Grade 12.

OSC is a multi-national English medium international school catering to the needs of Sri Lankan students and the internationally mobile expatriate community.

OSC provides an educational setting that is focused on developing each student to achieve their full potential. That degree of personal excellence can only come with highly qualified teachers committed to the needs of all students on a campus which balances nature with state of the art technology, facilities and resources. OSC is a culturally diverse community with students, parents and staff working in harmony. The faculty is composed of8 different nationalities and the student community is composed of over 40 different nationalities making it truly international.
