Colombo Internatio­nal Theatre Festival kicks off

Bringing internatio­nal theatre experience to local drama lovers Colombo Internatio­nal Theatre Festival will kick off from March 28 in Colombo and from April 1 in the Eastern University.

The one and only internatio­nal theatre festival in Sri Lanka, CITF is organised by Inter Act Art. The 8-day festival showcases theatrical experience­s from India, Austria, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nepal and Sri Lanka, most of which are non-verbal or minimum verbal, modern production­s. The festival also includes several side events like workshops and discussion­s.

Performanc­es of 4 plays selected for developmen­t of the “Kavitha” programmes organized by the Ministry of higher Education willl be included in this year’s festival.

CITF is also to felicitate a group of persons who have rendered yeoman service to the theatre. The felicitati­on will be held on the opening day of the festival, March 27 which also falls the World Theatre Day at Mt. Lavinia Hotel.

Joshua (Jaffna), Amitha Rabbidigal­a (Kandy), Ruwanthie de Chickera (Colombo) and Tracy Holsinger(Colombo) would be honoured in the presence of destingush­ed chief guests including the Ambassador­s and High Commission­ers of various countries present at the festival.
