All-rounder Daniel powers Joes to fifth win

All-rounder Jehan Daniel smashed a powerful unbeaten century against President’s College to guide St Joseph’s to their fifth successive win in the All Island Under 15 Inter Schools Division One tournament.

Chasing 175 runs to win in 30 overs, the Josephian openers, Jehan Daniel(115 n. o.) and Revan Kelly (52 n. o.) saw their side through in just 23 overs. Daniel tore into the visitors bowling attack to thump six sixes and 14 boundaries in an 85-ball knock while Kelly stroked six boundaries and a six as the Joes romped home.

The Josephians, led by Harin Cooray, had earlier beat Veluwana, Lumbini, Sri Jayewarden­epura and Asoka Vidyalaya to remain unbeaten. Beat Presidents College by 10 wickets
