52% of employees leaving a company steal data : Safetica CTO

-

Security software brand Safetica, launched locally last week, is offering Sri Lankan companies the means to electronically monitor employees. This is the company’s focus because, according to Pavel Kratfy, the Chief Technology Officer for Czech IT firm Safetica, 52 per cent of employees will steal data when leaving a company. He also added that unmotivated employees are the key risk group for data theft.

Further, he also commented that only 23 per cent of businesses actively monitor removable media connections such as USB drives, etc. And over 50 per cent of data leap protection (DLP) solutions fail, with one reason being that most DLP solutions, provided by big IT security companies such as Kaspersky, McAfee, only monitor frequently used applications from Microsoft, Adobe, etc. However, Safetica software monitors all software applications, even those that were customised or developed specifically for the company. In addition, Safetica software also offers advanced features, including Intelligent Employee Profiling.

Represented in Sri Lanka by DCS International, Safetica promises full protection from human factor failures. According to its launch announcement; "Using the new software, CEOs could even detect whether employees are using their personal emails or devices such as pen drives, tablets and mobile phones, etc., to leak sensitive information to competitors. The moment a suspicious transference of date takes place, the software will alert administrators, prompting them to take necessary action. Therefore, it will drastically minimise risks of losing data, information being leaked to third parties and possible cyber-attacks". (JH)
