International Professional Qualifications at HRMI

-

Chaturangi Perera who recently finished the Executive Diploma at HRMI said, ‘ HRMI sent me to Bodyline Horana for an internship. I worked hard and never thought as an intern. I did my utmost and was totally committed during my internship and I was so happy when I was offered a permanent job at Bodyline. That’s my advice to every student, go to an institution which not only teaches the subject but also gives you the training. During training, give your best and don’t think it’s a short term internship, be positive and work hard, then you will do well’.

Last Sunday, our correspondent met with several parents of students who waited until their children finished classes at HRMI and on inquiring said, ‘We travel over 200 kilometres every Sunday to bring our daughter to attend HR classes here because this place is different’. ‘Here the children are shown a clear pathway. They know their future; they are taught not only HR, Business English and IT, but also how to write a CV, how to face an Interview and how to get about in an office’. HRMI has a policy of providing a HR internship training no sooner a student finishes the Level 1 Certificate course and thereafter facilitate in job placement. Mr Upali Jayarathna commented that HRMI actually delivers its promise of training and employment and his nephew was so happy working for Lalans Rubber as an HR executive after following a course at HRMI. He further said, ‘ there are many places which offers certificates but not jobs. What is the point of following a course if you can’t find a job? That’s why we take all the trouble to travel because here it’s a total package’. Students are often successful in securing employment if they work hard during the internship.

Teaching quality at HRMI is considered superior as Sri Lanka’s best known HR professionals teach at all levels. The Director of the Institute Mr. Gihan Talgodapitiya said, ‘ Our strength is in our faculty. All our courses are linked to UK Edexcel p r o g rammes. ‘Edexcel Qualifications are evaluated on the basis of students attaining a high standard of professionalism in the assignments and pro- jects. In order to facilitate this learning, the faculty must be qualified and exposed to new concepts. Unless the faculty has the exposure, students will not be able to fulfil the high standards of expectation set by the UK evaluators’.

He further stated that every lecturer has been hand- picked and invited to be on the faculty. ‘All our lecturers hold very high positions in the private sector and posses post-graduate qualifications from some of the best universities in the region.

They are a great source of inspiration to the young students’. The course contents and details of the HRMI faculty are available at the website: www. hrmi.lk.
