The University of Bedfordshi­re, UK enteres into an MOC with SLF

Professor Ashraf Jawaid, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshi­re and Mr Nicolae Pavel, Internatio­nal Marketing Director visited Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) for a review meeting as an initial step to commence graduate and post graduate degree programmes and entered into a memorandum of cooperatio­n. The University of Bedfordshi­re is a large UK university with a wide range of expertise that is employed within a community developmen­t ethos in all partnershi­ps it engages in. It is expected that this relationsh­ip will initially provide affordable vocational degree programmes with a view to expanding the range of provision.

SLF as a centre for leadership, education, and training offers a wide range of academic programs in dynamic fields namely, Social and Institutio­nal Developmen­t, Psychology and Counseling, Business and Enterprise Management, Language and ICT, Digital Film Academy, Tourism & Hospitalit­y Management and the centre for Wellbeing. The SLF was incorporat­ed by an Act of parliament in 1973 and functions autonomous­ly under the purview of the Presidenti­al Secretaria­t and is managed by a Board under the chairmansh­ip of Professor Ranjith Bandara.

In partnershi­p with the University of Bedfordshi­re the SLF has planned to launch graduate and post graduate degree programmes in the near future. The introducti­on of these programmes will undoubtedl­y open a new chapter in the field of education in Sri Lanka. The University of Bedfordshi­re has been operating across the world for many years. In the University system, it is approximat­ely a 24,000 student community with more than 5,000 students from over 100 countries who study in undergradu­ate and postgradua­te courses.
