Institute of Human Resource AdvancementUniversity of Colombo Introduces Project Management Education to Sri Lanka

The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) is one of the Institutes attached to the University of Colombo ( IHRA- UOC) and e s t ablished under the Ordinance No.11 of 1979 which was amended by Ordinance No. 01 of 2006. IHRA is advancing according to the global and local developments through the “knowledge economy”. IHRA depends on the University Formulation and implementation of its academic programmes and the award of postgraduate degrees Institute of Human Resource Adv a n c e m e n t (IHRA) Extension programme has decided to offer Certificate course in Project Management leading to Diploma with Project Management Institute (PMI). To improve the quality of the program we expect the expert knowledge in industry. The IHRA-UOC accommodates annually for about 15,000 students accommodates annually for about 15,000 students

Under the leadership of DrRohan Perera- Director IHRA, IHRA introduces new education programs to the nation which directly related to the development of the country. Higher Diploma in Project Management is the newly introduce program with the collaboration of Project Manag e m e n t Institute Colombo Chapter Sri Lanka.

“Our ultimate goal is to make Sri Lanka an Education Hub by 2020. Therefore we need to introduce global education programs to Sri Lanka” DrRohan Perera said in a discussion.

This is the first ever dual certification Higher Diploma in the country offered by a University. The program is carefully designed to develop the Knowledge and Skills of professionals engaged in Projects of the Country. It covers critical Subject areas which a Project Manager should be aware of. The total duration would be 12 months to obtain both PMP ( Project Management Professionals) and HDPM (Higher Diploma in Project Management) certifications.

The following subject areas will be covered under the Higher Diploma in Project Management with in two semesters. PMP Essentials Marketing Management Business Communication Management Accounting ICT for Project Management Operational Research (OR) Research Methodology Professional skills Law of Contract Industrial Instrumentation Internship and Project Report IHRA- UOC is looking for suitable candidates to enroll on Higher Diploma in Project Management.
