-

As Sri Lanka prepares for the second largest gathering of world leaders in November, the Sunday Times Business Club (STBC) is organising an exciting discussion and debate on the impact of CHOGM 2013.

A group of eminent personalities – former Foreign Secretary and Ambassador H.M.G.S. Palihakkara, UNP Parliamentarian and former banker Eran Wickramaratne and International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka Tissa Jayaweera – will discuss “CHOGM 2013: Its impact on Sri Lanka’s political, social and economic landscape.”

The speakers will discuss the impact the Commonwealth Heads of State or Government meeting will have on Sri Lanka’s foreign policy; on political and economic issues and the investment and business it would generate.

The meeting is on Monday, September 30 at 6.30 pm at the Cinnamon Lakeside and restricted to members of the club and a few special invitees.

More than 50 leaders are attending the November summit, lower than the 86 leaders including Indira Gandhi, Muhammar Gaddafi and Yasser Arafat who at- tended the 1976 Non Aligned Summit under Prime Minister Sirima Bandaranaike’s stewardship. Meanwhile at the recent AGM of the STBC, the following were elected to office for the year 2013/14:President - Chaturanga Perera; Vice President Amal Fernando; Gen. The club accounts were audited by Thangavelu and Company, Chartered Accountants. The club is sponsored by Etisalat, co- sponsored by Hameedia and hosted by Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo.
