The NFC sticker is an evolvement of the present NFC technology card system is offering greater convenience and practicality to users of the new technology, the company said.

NFC technology, first commercially launched in Sri Lanka by Dialog in 2012 is already used in card form and has gained popularity amongst motorist who use NFC enabled cards at fuel stations for the cashless settlement of fuel bills. NFC enabled fuel card settlement POS (Point of Sale) machines are already available at selected LIOC (Lanka Indian Oil Company) and Laughfs fuel sheds island-wide. The NFC sticker can be pasted on a phone, wallet, key tag or on any item that is frequently carried while commuting, it said.

NFC is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology, which enables the exchange of data between devices over about a 10 centimetre (around 4 inches) distance by simply tapping his/her sticker at a POS machine and save the hassle of filling out, signing and handing over forms, which would then need to be tabulated.

Users would be notified of the transaction immediately via SMS (Short Message Service), while they could also log-into maintain and view their fuel quota balance.
