Microsoft appoints Imran Vilcassim as Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives

Microsoft announced Imran Vilcassim as the new Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, at its local Partner Awards held last week, taking over from Sriyan de S. Wijeratne.

Mr. Vilcassim will be responsibl­e for leading the company's commercial and consumer product portfolio, service offerings, corporate reputation, company performanc­e, customer & partner experience as well as overall leadership of operations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, according to a company statement. Commenting on the new appointmen­t, Jamie Harper, General Manager of Southeast Asia at Microsoft, said " Imran is a highly experience­d leader, having most recently led our enterprise business in the region which supports some of our largest customers across the country. Imran is a passionate Sri Lankan and his proven leadership capabiliti­es will ensure that Microsoft Sri Lanka con- tinues to support our customers, partners and the community." The new Country Manager is currently in the process of guiding the company's transforma­tion from a largely on premise software business to a devicesand- services company, offering compelling and integrated experience­s to customers across PCs, tablets and mobile devices. These experience­s are delivered via Microsoft's network of over 100 partners in Sri Lanka. "I am excited to play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of people in the country." said Mr. Vilcassim. " This is a very special time for both Microsoft Sri Lanka, and also Sri Lanka as a whole, as national reconcilia­tion and stabilizat­ion takes hold. We are committed to delivering lasting value for the country and making a positive impact for a better Sri Lanka." Prior to his current role, the new Microsoft Colombo chief was the Director for Microsoft Sri Lanka's Commercial Business.
