IPM diversifies through HR development

-

The Institute of Personne l Mana g e m e n t Sri Lanka ( IPM), the nation’s leader in human resource management ( HRM) training, recently diversified its services to include Human Resource Development ( HRD) training. IPM will be providing HRD training through its l atest course: the National Diploma in Training and Human Resource Development ( NDTHRD), commencing from 20 October 2013.

Similar to HRM’s multi- faceted indispensable role in an organization, HRD also plays an imperative role in the various aspects of an organization, on a wider, all encompassing perspective, especially one wh i ch constantly evolves to meet the challenges of the global economy. HRD is essentially a part of the HRM strat e gy which addresses the skill development feature of people management. For an organization to achieve its business goals it has to ensure the human resources are trained for precise skills. Providing skill- training of this nature is a skill of its own – quite unique, albeit acquirable through proper guidance.

IPM has designed the NDTHRD considering the significance of people development and training in human resource management. The course module includes both theoretical and practical aspects, focusing on training methodology, use of technology in training, managing the training function, along with managing modules such as strategic management, employee relationship management, including marketing and finance.

The NDTHRD is the highest qualification in HRD to be offered in Sri Lanka and is a professional qualification equivalent to the PQHRM, which is currently the top- end professional course for HRM offered by IPM; the distinction being the differences between the professions: NDTHRD for HRD professionals and PQHRM for HRM professionals.

This professional qualification is ideal for all those students and pro f e s s i o n a l s alike, intent on Training and Development ( T& D) at a ny l eve l . It is designed to complement human resource manag e m e n t and therefore meets the knowledge and skill training criteria of other disciplines of an organization such as, marketing, project manag e m e n t and finance. From an educational standpoint this qualification is useful for lecturers and demonstrators as well.

The entry requirement for the NDTHRD is either, professional or graduate level qualification; G. C. E ( A/ L) along with three year post- qualifying experience in a relevant field; G. C. E ( O/ L) with f ive year executive level experience; or successful completion of any cert i f i c at e course offered by the IPM.
