St. Sylvester’s College flattered to deceive and fell short of the Dharmaraja College total by 71 runs in their high-voltage clash which ended in a draw at Lake View in Kandy yesterday. Good knocks from the consistent Chandimal de Silva, Rameesh Ranasinghe and Jayapadma Tennakoon enabled the Rajans to pile up 268 runs. The Sylvestrian spinners Pabasara Perera, Nimesha Mendis and Sivakumar Tyron accounted for the bulk of wickets.

St. Anthony’s Katugastota failed to avert the follow-on by a mere run, but batted entertainingly second time round to stall any possibility of a S. Thomas’ win in their drawn match at Katugastota. Tall scores from Thilaksha Sumanasiri, Madushan Ravichandrakumar and Helakamal Nanayakkara propelled the Thomians to a speedy 299.
