-

In the recent survey conducted by the most prestigious and pioneer business magazine in Sri Lanka the LMD, BCAS Campus has emerged No.1 amongst the private higher education institutions selected for the survey. The survey was, actually, carried out by the TNS Lanka for the magazine on 43 selected institutions which included semi- governmental institutions as well. In the overall rankings, BCAS has achieved the 4th Place while the first three placed ahead of BCAS are semigovernmental institutors. BCAS Campus has thus been ranked to become No.1 amongst the private sector higher education institutions in Sri Lanka.

The TNS Lanka has considered 18 different aspects to arrive at the rankings and the most important amongst them are reputation & global recognition, learning facilities, affordability & fee structures, qualified lecturer panels, extra curricular activities, campus environment, scholarships , pass rates , internships & prospect of international opportunities etc. The results of the survey have been published in the September 2013 issue of the magazine under the strip title “Educational Institutions in Sri Lanka | Survey Results”.

Reproduced extracts from the magazine itself describe the importance of the survey.

“…………………Selecting a suitable institute is not an easy task, as ‘ educational institutes’ continue to mushroom in every nook and corner, and the print media is laden with their advertisements. This is why a thorough assessment and evaluation is a ‘must do’ before students make a final decision, although the quality of educational services is often intangible and difficult to measure. Identifying the determinants of selecting a par- ticular educational institute and measuring its r e l a t i ve importance varies from one student to the other.

The main objective of the research carried out by TNS Lanka, for LMD, was to assess educational institutes in this country through the eyes of potential students and their parents. Among the assessed institutes, there are providers of university, professional and vocational education. The research was carried out via a structured questionnaire by TNS covering the city of Colombo and its suburbs, with a sample size of 650 prospective students and 200 parents.

Survey participants first selected their preferred subject stream, thereafter rating the importance of 18 attributes that are usually considered when selecting an educational institute. …………”

The authenticity of the honest and qualitative survey is unquestionable.

Not every Sri Lankan student can enter the local university after completing his/ her A Levels. At the same time not all the private institutions flashing higher education banners are affordable or trustworthy. The other telling impediment is English competency. If students are going to make use of their opportunities globally, they need to overcome these sets of chal- lenges, such as financial hurdles, language barriers and immigration restrictions.

In this backdrop BCAS Campus has emerged the top and most sought after private higher education in Sri Lanka with wellstructured courses and study pathways that are proven solutions to all the problems mentioned above. BCAS’ strong and healthy collaboration with reputed universities in UK and Malaysia and its widest network of campuses have made BCAS Campus stand tall in the private sector higher education in Sri Lanka.

Each of these schools is equipped with essential English language courses, which meticulously aid the nature of the field being pursued. The difference between BCAS and others is that BCAS offers its students the opportunity to move forward with careers or higher studies thus preventing stagnation after attaining their qualifications. This is made possible through its placement division which offers free services to all students to find suitable internships , jobs and university admissions on successful completion of their courses at BCAS.

BCAS programmes are offered at various levels – Degree Foundation, HND. Top-up degrees and Masters. A wide range of courses in Computing, Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Law, Bio-medical Science and Civil Engineering, Telecom engineering , Software Development etc are available according to the stu- dent’s choice and flair. The study options are also unique at BCAS Campus . The students can complete the full Degree at BCAS Campus in Sri Lanka or do part of the degree studies in Sri Lanka and complete the remaining portions in Qatar or Oman while being employed.

While being established in Colombo, BCAS campus has branched out to some of the main cities in the country such as Dehiewla, Kandy, Kurunegala, Batticaloa and Jaffna keeping in mind the convenience and purse of the outstation students. BCAS Campus has thus become more accessible for students nationwide to have a chance of pursuing the education they aspire. In addition, BCAS Campus has an overseas branch in Qatar which caters to the students Sri Lankans as well as other students of various nationalities needing upgrading of their qualifications for promotions.

With its well established partnerships with internationally acclaimed universities both in the UK and Malaysia, BCAS is soon going to establish an exclusive campus for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students to offer more programmes at top- up and Master’s levels.

Every business endeavour is undoubtedly for profit making. But this alone is not BCAS’ sole aim. The management of BCAS Campus is proud that it built careers through its courses to transform the lives of Sri Lankan youths. It is why its motto is “Building Careers – Transforming Lives”.
