Sennheiser Electronic Asia announces exclusive product partnership

- By Shaveen Jeewandara

The speakers were booming, the guitars picked up, a night of entertaining music ensued and the stars of the night were both the artistes and the sound system that brought about the pitch-perfect sound. With Sennheiser Electronic Asia officially announcing the award of sole distributorship for the music industry and professional audio products to Dynamic AV Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, they felt right to go a step beyond merely talking about their products and put them under the spotlight in a musical demonstration that proved their vision - the pursuit of perfect sound.

Held at the Stables of the Park Street Mews recently, the musical demonstration that followed the official launch event showcased local artistes with the Slipping Chairs, A Team, Lelum Rathnayake, Umaria Sinhawansa and Lanthra Perera to name a few. They took a few minutes to tweak the settings on the brand new Sennheiser equipment and soon kicked in to give the gathering a night of brilliant music; the artistes seemed to enjoy themselves on stage with a first of its kind trial run of the products. The event was also graced by the presence of leading names such as Sunil Perera, Athula Adhikari and Randhir Vitana who were keenly listening to the music and sound on display.

Established in 1945, in Wademark, Germany, Sennheiser is one of the foremost brands in microphone technology, RF-wireless and infra-red sound transmission, headphone transducer technology, and the development of active noise cancellation. Being in the industry for almost 70 years, Sennheiser looked to expand their horizons to the rapidly developing music industry in Sri Lanka.

The sole distributorship announcement was in recognition of the distributor's track record with Sennheiser in the past few years and Dynamics AV will have exclusive rights to distribute the product. Managing Director, Dynamic AV Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, Mohan Abeysinghe said they had been working on building the partnership with Sennnheiser Asia, over the last few years. "We had to prove to Sennheiser that we were capable of taking on the brand, and we have succeeded in doing so."

Mr. Abeysinghe stated that although Sennheiser had a strong presence in the broadcasting industry of the country -with leading channels using Sennheiser products for their recordings- it was not so in the music industry. "Our intentions are to tap into the music industry market and make Sennheiser the accepted brand by musicians in Sri Lanka," he added.

President and Managing Director, Sennheiser Asia, Ng Chee Soon said that this marks a new chapter in their business world and is looking forward to the partnership. Speaking to the Sunday Times, Mr. Soon said that hosting the launch event on a grand scale incorporating local artistes shows the distance that Sennheiser is willing to tread in Sri Lanka. "It's hard to say how successful we'll be right now, but things are moving in the positive direction.
