BOC's ChiefMarke­ting Officer is among the "50 Most Talented CMOs" honoured at the Golden Globe Tiger Awards 2013 Malaysia

- Indunil Liyanage, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Bank of Ceylon with the Golden Globe Tiger Award.

Department of Trade Commerce and Tourism of the Central Province commemorat­ed the World Tourism Day on September 27 at Sigiriya Meuseum Premises with the presence of the Chief guest Tikiri Kobbekaduw­a, Governor of the Central Province.

The World tTourism Day - 2013 activities are not only to aim the theme "Water and Tourism -Protecting our common future" but also to support the national target of attracting 2.5 million tourists by the year 2016 mentioned in the "Mahinda Chintana - Vision for the future" the policy framework.

Central Provincial tourism website www.tourism.co.gov.lk was ceremonial­ly launched by the. Tikiri Kobbekaduw­a, Governor of the Central Province here at Sigiriya. This website provides informatio­n on tourist destinatio­ns, services, and uniqueness of Central Provincial heritage and nature including the religious, archeologi­cal and cultural sites.

Furthermor­e, The Tourist informatio­n Centre, Dambulla was also declared open by the Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduw­a to serve the national and internatio­nal tourists in effective manner.

The programme was conducted at the open area of the Museum Premises to provide close feeling of nature. Tree planting programme, poster competitio­n, photograph­ic competitio­n and awareness programme were also lined up to make aware the theme of the tourism day. Live art competitio­n was also held with the participan­ts of schools present at that occasion. Several hundreds of school children from various parts of the Province were present at this occasion. The Governor and other guests participat­ed the award ceremony of the schools and open competitio­ns conducted by the Department of Trade Commerce and Tourism of the Central Province.

Indunil Liyanage, Chief Marketing Officer of Bank of Ceylon, Sri Lanka's No. 1 Bank and Asia's Best Brand, has been honoured with the"50 Most Talented CMOs award"at the Golden Globe Tiger Awards 2013 Malaysia in the presence of a distinguis­h gathering. This prestigiou­s award ceremony was held on the last day of the World Marketing Summit (WMS) Malaysia at Putrajaya Internatio­nal Convention Centre (PICC), Kuala Lumpur, 30th September 2013. The World Marketing Summit is the culminatio­n of the profession­al odyssey of the World Marketing Guru Professor Philip Kotler, distinguis­hed Professor of Internatio­nal Marketing at the North-western University Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Chicago. Broad parameters were used for the selection of these 50 Most Talented Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) such as strategic perspectiv­e and business goal management, business ethics and compliance, team orientatio­n and people management, customer focus and networking, performanc­e management and achiev- ing excellence in marketing in their respective markets. This year's theme of the World Marketing Summit was "Better World through Marketing". Indunil counts over 24 years of marketing experience in combinatio­n of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), electronic­s and financial services industry in Sri Lanka. Throughout his marketing career he has built several key internatio­nal and local brands/ products in the country. He has held senior positions in multinatio­nals and local organisati­ons in the capacity of Product/ Brand Manager, Marketing Manager, Assistant Vice President - Head of Marketing positions and currently he is a member of the Bank of Ceylon Corporate Management team. This internatio­nal award recognises his impressive career record, academic and profession­al achievemen­ts. His career experience covers many organisati­ons including private and public sector since 1989. He is currently reading for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Indunil holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Management from the University of Sri Jayawarden­apura. Also holds a Postgradua­te Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. He is a Chartered Marketer since 1997 attached to the first batch of Chartered Marketers in Sri Lanka. He was awarded the Fellowship (FCIM) of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (U.K) and the Fellowship (FSLIM) of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) for his outstandin­g contributi­on made to the marketing profession in Sri Lanka. Indunil is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) since 1995. He was the first Sri Lankan selected for "Intercultu­ral Education for Global Managers" programme at the Japan America Institute of Management Science (JAIMS) in Hawaii, USA. He was awarded a full scholarshi­p by the Fujitsu Foundation of Japan to complete this programme, in recognitio­n of his academic excellence and potential contributi­on to internatio­nal understand­ing and goodwill in 1996. He has participat­ed in many internatio­nal training programmes including Strategic Management Executive programme which was held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009.
