CFW Fashion Retail Advisor Odel supports designers with collections in-store

Exclusive resort wear seen for the first time on the catwalk of the 2013 HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Resort Wear Show, will be on sale at Odel's flagship store at Alexandra Place for one week commencing Friday 11th October.

A special display at the Ladies Select department will offer selected items from the collections presented by designers Catherine Rawson, Amanda Weerasinghe and Sonali Dharmawardena who wowed the audience at the show with their creations.

Odel partnered the 2013 Colombo Fashion Week as Official Fashion Retail Advisor.

Of the three designers whose creations will be on sale at Odel, Catherine Rawson is a Graduate of Central St. Martin's College, London and has worked in London and Paris both in-house and as a freelance knitwear sampler for contemporary independent designers such as Guy Laroche, Jessica Ogden, Bernhard Willhelm and Aquascutum. Her collection for the Colombo Fashion Week Resort Wear Show was based on an idea about no-fuss luxury and simple tailoring shapes that translates the theme of wrapping and folding fabric, with soft handwork embellishments.

Amanda Weerasinghe studied fashion designing at the Academy of Design (AOD) for three years and completed her degree with a B.A (HONS) in the UK. Her theme for the CFW Resort Wear Show 2013 has a touch of pop art mixed with the Sri Lankan urban lifestyle. She chose vintage floral and Sri Lankan wobbly heads as her key elements while incorporating printing and dyeing techniques.

The third designer Sonali Dharmawardena is an artist whose professional qualifications kept her in the corporate sector for almost all of her working career. Now happily settled to enjoy the gift of her talent in art, she expresses herself in creating one-of-a-kind designs on the fabrics she uses for her simple silhouettes. Sonali has shown in Berkshire, UK, in Lyon, France, and presented her work in the Middle East, India, Malaysia and USA.
