New Clarks store opens in Colombo

Clarks, the world renowned name in footwear opened new store in Colombo on 2nd October showcasing their range of beautifull­y versatile and perfectly crafted British style footwear. Situated in Colombo 7, it will present all of Clarks signature styles for adults.

The collection offers a variety of footwear to match the needs of the times. Clarksmen's and women's shoes juxtapose vintage British styling with contempora­ry tailoring to stay ahead of trends. From smart office wear to the most stylish footwear for parties, Clarks has it all. The store bears a strong resemblanc­e to British roots and takes pride in its nearly two centuries old heritage.

Clarks launched its first store in India in April 2011 in a joint venture with Future group and today owns 37 standalone stores with 35 stores in India, two in Sri Lanka and one in Bangladesh. The joint venture has been very successful and now they are all set to venture out in more Asian countries through the same partnershi­p. Clarks has presence in Shop-in-shops and multi-brand retail stores including lifestyle, metro, reliance retail and more in India. It has around 300 points of shopping across the country.

In Sri Lanka apart from the standalone stores, Clarks is also available in 5 DSI premier store formats and in the new lifestyle stores "the Origin" managed by the company.Speaking at the opening ceremony, S Ramprasad, CEO Clarks India, said that Clarks have received an encouragin­g response from the Indian market and that they are very positive about the response in Sri Lanka."Consumers here are looking for the latest trends in fashion and superior quality, and we have plans to open more stores in the region very soon. Clarks derives a lot of strength from its heritage of around 200 years in shoemaking and is aware of the qualities a customer looks for in footwear. Sri Lanka is a strategic market for us."
