"Creating a platform for change, Maestro 2013"
‘Maestro 2013’ an emulating Quiz competition and an erudite commerce day organized by the Commerce Union of Wesley College was held at the Wesley College premises on the 8th of October, 2013 from 2.15pm to 5pm. Starting off with the quiz with over 350 participants from different schools, the students seemed very focused on winning the championship trophy. The quiz was based on a trilingual basis (English, Sinhala and Tamil) to encourage and create a platform for each and every student to participate. Following the quiz competition the proceedings of the commerce day began with the arrival of the Chief guest Mr.Rukith Nanayakkara who was the first Commerce Union President at Wesley College. The chief guest was warmly welcomed by the current year president Malin Rodrigo, who led the organizing committee to execute this event. A wide range of entertainment Items was performed by students from reputed schools around Sri Lanka as well as the energetic Wesleyites showcasing their extra ordinary talents.
The Oxford College of Business, the main sponsor for this event inspired the students by a presentation done by Mr.Dhanushka Withanage on higher studies. The award ceremony then started off with naming the 2nd runner ups, 1st runner ups and Champions from the English, Sinhala and Tamil Mediums. In the English Medium 1st, 2nd and 3rd places was ranked by Musaeus College, Good Shepherd Convent and Methodist College respectively. In the Sinhala Medium the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were ranked by Ananda College, Yashodara Balika M/V and AnulaVidyalaya respectively. In the Tamil Medium the 1st,2nd and 3rd places were claimed by Hindu College Bamapalapitya, Hindu Ladies College and Ramanathan Hindu College respectively.
It is with great appreciation that the Commerce Union thanked the Principal Dr.ShantiMcLelland, Mr.Dilshan Perera ( Sectional head of commerce and arts ) , all the Staff advisors, Sponsors, wellwishers and especially to all the schools that participated making this event a great success.
