ACCA signs MoU with The University of Colombo

-

The fastest growing global professional accountancy body, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sri Lanka, is partnering with local universities through a series of MOUs. This is in an attempt to better prepare local students for the changing job market that calls on professionals with skills and expertise that combines both theoretical and practical knowledge.

ACCA signed an MoU with the University of Colombo recently. ACCA is confident that the MoU will strengthen the partnership between the two educational bodies to work together to explore the opportunity to grant exemptions for the graduates.

The underlying core expectancy of the MoU is to work together to develop the accounting profession in Sri Lanka by conducting joint workshops, seminars, research, discussion events and conferences. The outcomes of these activities will ultimately contribute towards the betterment of the accounting profession in the country.

The MoU will also look at sharing information about ACCA qualifications with students of the University of Colombo. It will also enable the sharing of information about the University of Colombo programmes with ACCA members and students.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo Dr. W.K Hirimburagama stated that this is an important event and hoped that the students will make maximum use of this opportunity to reap the benefits of obtaining a globally recognized qualification of this nature.

Speaking of this initiative, Ms.Nilusha Ranasinghe, Head of ACCA Sri Lanka stated “We are extremely pleased to formalize our relationship with the University of Colombo, not only to offer better options and opportunities for students but also to share our views and work towards the development of the accountancy profession in Sri Lanka.”
