- GGS – Kandy GGS - Negombo

Encouraged by the success of the Edexcel BTEC Professional Diploma in Teaching offered by Gateway Graduate Schools in Colombo, Kandy and Negombo, Gateway is making arrangements to provide a pathway for all Diploma holders to complete a British Degree in Education. Two years ago, Gateway introduced an innovative/ modern teacher teaching course to offer an internationally recognized Diploma, which is equivalent to a first year of a Degree. In this short period of time Gateway has had eight intakes in Colombo, five intakes in Kandy and three intakes in Negombo.

As the first step towards offering a Degree, Gateway has already commenced the Level 5 Edexcel Professional Diploma in Advanced Teaching, which will be the second year of the Degree. It is pleasing to note that Edexcel International has pledged to support teacher training in Sri Lanka. Building on the success so far, Edexcel is keen to promote their qualifications to all teachers including the teachers of the State Schools.

Mr. Manos Kapterian, Managing Director of Edexcel mentions that Edexcel is pleased to offer this qualification through Gateway due to the confidence they have in Gateway’s passion and the commitment to quality education. He says that by offering these internationally recognized qualifications in Sri Lanka, it is not only the teachers of the Gateway Schools that will benefit but also it will contribute towards the professional development of all teachers in Sri Lanka.

The next intake of Colombo, Kandy and Negombo will be in January 2014. Further details can be obtained from by calling
