Opportunities to enter Japanese Universities for higher education through JLEA

-

Japan, which is one of Sri Lanka’s greatest benefactors in the economic front, has also come forward to assist our students who will now be eligible to enter Japanese Universities for higher education.

In order to obtain admission to over 50 recognized universities, it is necessary for applicants to sit an Examination for Japanese University Admission, also referred to as the “EJU” Examination as a pre-qualification. The students could choose to sit this examination either in English or Japanese.

JASTECA, Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA) which was established in 1974, is the pioneering Japanese Language Education organization in Sri Lanka which conducts Japanese Language Courses. During the last four years, JLEA has assisted about 25 Sri Lankan students to obtain partly funded Scholarship and learn in Japan. JLEA is indeed proud of this achievement and we hope to help more students to obtain scholarships in future. The EJU Examination The EJU Examination is open to male/ female students, who have sat for the G.C.E. (Advance Level) Examination; a pass in this exam is not a pre-requisite to apply.

The applicants for EJU can select question papers in the same stream and subjects they offered for the Advanced Level examination. For example, students who were in the Mathematics or Science stream can select Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics and sit the exam in English medium. Those students who were in the Commerce and Arts stream could sit for general knowledge questions on the subject “Japan and The World” and “Mathematics Course 1” a paper in Algebra.

Those who have been in the Arts stream and have studied the Japanese Language could select the Japanese Language paper only. Those who obtain high marks and pass this EJU examination will be eligible for partly funded Scholarship ( 50% provided by Japan) to learn in reputed Japanese Universities and fulfill this lifelong dreams and ambitions.

The EJU examination is held bi-annually in the months of June and November each year. Applications for the June examination will be called in the 01st week of February up to the 03rd week and applications for the November examination will be called in the 01st week of July up to the 03rd week. Classes for EJU Examination JLEA will commence a Special class with the objective of preparing students for the above examination as a subject of Japanese Language. Those interested could obtain information from JLEA Office at Sasakawa Cultural Centre, No. 4, 22nd Lane, Colombo 03 and e-mail jleagen@gmil.com.

Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) level N3 can join the above classes and others will be selected only after a selection examination. We invite you to join this interesting course and make the most of this opportunity.
