Expolanka Freight reduces carbon footprint by 10 %

Expo Freight (EFL) recently was re-certified with CarbonNeut­ral by the Carbon Consulting Company (CCC) for the year 2013/14 furthering a commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

Since becoming Sri Lanka's first- ever CarbonNeut­ral freight and logistics company in 2012, EFL has been working in the forefront of this evolving environmen­tal issue. The company managed to reduce its carbon footprint by 10 per cent within the year 2012/3, consequent­ly achieving the predicted target, a statement from the company said.

CEO Expo Freight ( EFL) Jagath Pathirane said, " Social responsibi­lity does take top billing in our operations as we contribute to reducing global warming and taking a lead in living and doing business by example and concern for environmen­t. As we also focus on sustainabi­lity Expo Freight will look at the recommenda­tions that suggest mitigation and monitoring strategies be enacted in the future to reduce the organisati­onal footprint”.

According to the assessment report by CCC EFL only recorded an 8.28 per cent increase in the overall footprint in comparison to the previous year despite an overall increase of 21.7 per cent in the company’s total mileage.
