Sala Enterprises forges ahead winning three awards with innovation and novelty

- Managing Director Chinthaka Wijewickrama.

Wining an award is no longer a herculean task. But winning three awards from three different independent bodies recognizing three different aspects during the past 11 months is indeed commendable. Sala Enterprises, a key player and a pioneer in Sri Lankan IT market had this rare opportunity, which is considered as "the results of hard work and innovation" by its Managing Director Chinthaka Wijewickrama.

"We won the award for the most creative stall at INFOTEL 2013,organized by Federation of Information technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), which focused on building bridges across different sectors thus allowing agriculture, medicine, communication, education, transportation, and tourism sectors. INFOTEL is an international exhibition. At TECHNO 2013organized by Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka, we were recognized for social integration. Last but not least at INCO Institution of Incorporated Engineers Sri Lanka (IIESL)we had the best display, which also lead us to win an award," he said who is contempt with the company performance in 2013.

The trilingual speaking dictionary that supports all three national languages; Sinhala, Tamil, and English was a hit in Sri Lanka for the past two years. Further venturing down the annals of improvement, this speaking dictionary locally known as the language companion now comes with Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, German, Italian, and French included apart from its three base languages.

"Our target is the Sri Lankans working abroad," says Wijewickrama who is yet to run short of novelties.

Among the wide product and brand portfolio held by Sala Enterprises, the recently launched 7" android tablet is also a winner. "Compared with the models available in Sri Lanka, we have developed it to have parental control and to have solar recharging capabilities," he explained.

According to Wijewickrama, Sri Lanka desperate to increase its IT literacy from its current level of 38% "must allow the younger generation to use the Internet," but with due supervision. The parental control provided in this android tablet offered for Rs.15,900/- prevent the child from venturing into unwanted or harmful substances on the offing in the Internet and also to establish certain time restrictions when it comes to addicted use. These time restrictions will limit the access and will not jeopardize the school education and most importantly the home work!

"Well, with our tablet, even a farmer at far end of the country could access weather patterns and farming techniques , read local newspapers, or to browse Internet while waiting at his chena at night to prevent the damages from wild animals," trusts Wijewickrama, a man with new ideas currently developing a range of solutions to go with cloud computing. "These solutions will be launched soon," he assured.

Apart from the language companion and the android tablet, Sala Enterprises also introduced a Magic box, which allows you to share information through WiFi be it a simple document file or a movie.
