IPM reaps sky-scraping benefits at CIPD conference

Island’s premier profession­al body in HRM, IPM’s official representa­tives Mr. Samitha Perera (the President) and Mr. Rohitha Amarapala (the Vice-President) recently participat­ed at the annual conference and exhibition organized by Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmen­t (CIPD).

CIPD conference and exhibition, which was held in Manchester Central, had been a huge success with a participat­ion of 4,000 HR profession­als seeking practical HR insights, new tools and techniques and new inspiratio­n. Creating the best workplace on earth, Techniques to enable transforma­tional employee engagement, Collecting and communicat­ing HR data for greater business insight, Developing leadership behaviours aligned to vision, values and culture, Creating meaningful work through big data are some of the seminar topics discussed at the conference.

IPM representa­tives made use of the opportunit­y to discuss with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmen­t, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Peter Cheese about new approaches in updating the IPM curriculum, in order to make it up to the globally recognized standards. They had further discussion­s on CIPD representa­tion at the IPM annual conference, which is scheduled to be held on 18th and 19th of June 2014 at The Bandaranai­ke Memorial Internatio­nal Conference Hall [BMICH], Colombo.

Mr. Perera and Mr. Amarapala also had discussion­s with Mr. Cheese on further developing of key result areas of HR over the Asian region, in collaborat­ion with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmen­t. These collaborat­ive efforts will facilitate corporate sector and all the HR profes- sionals in the Asian region, who are longing for practical HR insights, new tools, techniques and inspiratio­n of the field, which would keep them up to date. In order to strengthen the partnershi­p between the two institutes, IPM representa­tives also presented the CIPD Chief Executive Officer a special gift.
