ABE grows rapidly in Sri Lanka

- Rumindra Ranasinghe - The Country Manager for ABE Sri Lanka

Now in its 40th year of operations, The Association of Business Executives (ABE )has rapidly grown to become one of the world’s leading business qualifications that have constantly evolved to keep abreast of the rapidly changing global marketplace. Their distinct advantage has been its ability to design high quality business and management qualifications that have enabled aspiring business professionals to achieve tangible progression in their careers, delivering added value to the businesses in which they work.

Mr.Rumindra Ranasinghe, Country Head for ABE Sri Lanka, outlining their plans in Sri Lanka stated “In our increasingly competitive world you have to stand out from others. Therefore if you can show potential employers that you have both the practical and the theoretical understanding of business it will give you a competitive edge amongst those that you compete with in the job market .You need to consider a qualification it’s reputation and acceptability by employers is important. This is where we come in. ABE is based in the UK and has been offering business qualifications for more than 40 years. It is recognized by the British government’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation and its qualifications are on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, ensuring the quality and integrity of both the organization and its work.

Explaining further about the qualification he said that ABE offers courses from Certificate up to Advanced Diploma level. “You can choose from six subjects that include business management, financial management, marketing, business information systems, human resource management and travel, tourism and hospitality management. In addition ABE offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management. The various different levels of ABE qualifications are accepted by British (and other) universities for entry onto relevant Bachelor and MBA degrees. Thus ABE Diplomas are accepted for entry on the second year of degree courses, the Advanced Diploma on to the third or final year of degree courses and the Postgraduate Diploma for advanced entry to MBAs.So not only do you gain a valuable business qualification in its own right, you can also save time and money by starting your degree from the second or third year. More than 50,000 students study ABE qualifications worldwide every year.”

Speaking about ABE’s role in Sri Lanka Ranasinghe affirmed that “We at ABE have always believed that we can play a significant role in Sri Lanka by ensuring that leaders in our business community have the opportunity to develop their skills and business acumen to meet the enormous opportunities that a dynamic and rapidly changing world presents.”.

In a highly competitive world such as the one we live in, it is critical that as Sri Lankan’s we focus on being the best. The habits of champions are a vital asset for nations. When it comes to business and management training, the ABE qualification has come to be associated with all the hallmarks of quality and excellence. We are proud to observe that many ABE graduates have used their qualification to develop their careers, with many employed by major organizations across sectors such as banks, telecom, hotels, government and airlines around the world.

He also pointed out that they had a network of globally accredited tuition providers that consisted of Bridge Way College, The Global Training Centre, International Institute of Management Technology London Business School, Oxford College of Business, and Thames College of further and higher education. Students who have completed their O’Levels can commence with the ABE level 4 diploma, whilst progression into level 5 of the ABE qualification only requires two A’ Level passes or two years of work experience.

Ranasinghe concluded by affirming that the ABE qualification is an ideal pathway that can be used as a platform for further education in undergraduate, postgraduate programmes including MBA in over 100 universities and colleges covering more than 25 countries , as the Diploma’s combine both industrial and academic excellence, equipping students with strong managerial skills and knowledge needed to climb up the ladder of success.
