“Kaleidospace:” – by Raffles Colombo!

- Flexible entry options Admission for next intake now on.

“An exhibition space entirely transformed by students designs, where all of the work displayed is part of the same concept acting as a guideline within the space design , created by students from the Department of Interior Design, with the bright overview from recently joined Architect, Rocio Martin Ruiz-Jarabo, from Spain”.

Friday 6th of December will be a day of innovation and novelty at Raffles Colombo, where the entire space will be transcended in to a work of design filled with creativity. This event will be hosted by the dynamic Academic team and the young talented students from Raffles Colombo, initiated by Senior Lecturer Rocio Martin RuizJarabo, Head of the Interior Design Department at Raffles.

The exhibition showcases the design of an exhibition space itself and also a curators’ work of the selection process and display of refined students work. It is therefore a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate their high conceptual level, guided by the expertise of the Architect and Lecturer.

All materials used in the construction of the Designed Exhibition Space include: 85gsm white and colour paper sheets, kent paper sheets, tissue paper sheets, toilet paper rolls, and paper tape. All sewn, glued, drilled and stretched into three dimensional forms designed to inspire and intrigue, in terms of concept and technical execution.

The concept of building a space using the same materials the students use for learning - as all professional designers do - help the exhibition to be a fully upright and comprehensive design, where tools and means used within design academia become integral in exercising the learned lessons comprehended in class.

The exhibition process started with a brainstorming session of ideas where the students shared their interests and relevant knowledge on the various areas of study within the Interior Design field, making the whole set of proposals become a new prism on the same topic: space and design. Thus, ‘Kaleidospace’ was brought as a title representing not only the conceptual speech of the design, but also the variety and integrity at the time, of the three big groups of upcoming designers within the ID Department at Raffles Colombo!

This was also an opportunity for the students to showcase their talent in not just Design, but also in the creativity and practicality of the aesthetic possibilities all through the various functional aspects covered within the Interior Design field, but also to prove and improve their professional manners and experience, in the practice of other roles nowadays expected to be covered by international designers as well. Hence, responsibilities such as Invitation Design, Tracking and Editing Processes, Marketing and Communicating informal campaigns, Budgeting and Time Management, Internal Communication and Meeting Coordination, have been carried out by the Interior Design Kaleidospace Exhibition Team, at Raffles Colombo, Sri Lanka!

This exhibition will truly demonstrate the professionalism and innovation of the students who are not only original in conceptualization but also responsible in their roles at all times in their design approaches.

The total fee for completing an American degree goes upto around USD 20,000 to 30,000 per year. (Approximately LKR 4 million). This means a total investment of Approximately LKR 16 million is required to complete an American university degree. This high cost has resulted in many high achieving students opting for other alternative qualifications which have a lower demand in the employment sector. After realizing these limitations, ANC Education launched the American degree completion program which allows students to complete a similar American university degree at a fraction of the cost. The option of completing the entire American degree in Sri Lanka entitles the student to save about 80% (around RS.10 Million) of the cost they would have to spend overseas for the same degree. Interest free installment plans and generous scholarships make all these truly affordable to most students and parents.

Students can join the degree program with pending A/Levels. A/Level student can complete the degree in 3 years, while O/Level students take 4 years to complete the degree. ANC maintains similar academic and admission standards to Northwood University USA.
