Austrade and William Angliss Colombo are holding a joint informatio­n seminar for the students (school leavers) and their parents, who are seeking to make a decision regarding their academic future and career prospects.

The seminar will provide students and their parents informatio­n about the booming tourism and hospitalit­y industry both in Sri Lanka and abroad, and will work to inform students about the vast array of future prospects as a profession­al in the particular tourism, hospitalit­y & events industry.

It will also highlight the unique , practical based teaching methodolog­y , internatio­nal lecture panel and world class facilities which are on offer at the Colombo Academy of Hospitalit­y Management ( William Angliss, Colombo). About the key guest speaker Steven Bradie-Miles has had a 25 year long hospitalit­y career and is also a former student of the William Angliss Institute in Melbourne.

In his early years Bradie-Miles moved through the ranks of top hotels in Melbourne starting off as a Duty Manager but quickly moving into more training and mentoring roles. After a few years, he joined the Victoria Branch of the Australian Hotels Associatio­n as a Training Officer.

In 2001, Bradie- Miles joined William Angliss Institute training in compliance and industry short courses. Over the past 12 years his role has grown to manage all of the Institute’s industry compliance training, lifestyle short courses and the Coffee Academy at William Angliss Institute, with a department-wide enrollment of approxi- mately 10,000 annually.

He has recently taken up the position of the CEO of William Angliss Colombo and is regarded as an industry expert in the South Asian region, having been invited by both Australian & Sri Lankan Government­s as well as the World Bank to deliver key insights into the future of training and developmen­t in the Tourism & Hospitalit­y Industry in Sri Lanka and Asia.

Students will gain tremendous knowledge from his insights and experience.
