Wycherley in stunning win over Gateway

Wycherley’s posted a stunning 10 run win over Gateway College in the final of the Internatio­nal Schools under final played at Shalika grounds recently.

The tournament was played for the Chandra Schaffter challenge trophy. The game was originally to be a 50 over game, but was reduced to 40 due to the inclement weather that was prevailing at the time.

Batting first, Wycherley were wrapped up for just 95 runs, but hit back to send Gateway reeling for 86.

The tournament was worked over a month, beginning on October 1 with 17 internatio­nal schools participat­ing.

The winning team was led by Keshawa Gunaratne with Himal Attanayake his deputy.

The awards were given aw a y by Kingsley Jayasinghe, Principal of Wycherley Internatio­nal School.

All the special awards were won by Wycherley cricketers.
