Pearson appoints Premila Paulraj as Regional Director for Asia

Premila Paulraj will assume responsibi­lities as the Regional Director, Asia of Pearson from January 2014. In her new capacity, she will be spearheadi­ng 19 countries across Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippine­s, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, North Korea, Mongolia, Timor Leste, Sri Lanka, Afghanista­n, Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal) , leading Business Operations for Pearson Qualificat­ions in vocational, academic and profession­al spheres. This would include Pearson General Qualificat­ions, BTEC Vocational Qualificat­ions and London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Qualificat­ions.

Premila joined Edexcel in 2006 as the Regional Developmen­t Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives. Since then, she has made a significan­t contributi­on towards the growth and sustainabi­lity of Pearson Edexcel qualificat­ions and was entrusted the responsibi­lity for developing the academic business in India Subcontine­nt. Her repeated success in developing Pearson's business in the Subcontine­nt has earned her'Pearson High Achiever' award consecutiv­ely from 2010 to 2013.Subsequent­ly,Premila was promoted as the Asst. Vice President, Pearson - India Subcontine­nt in 2011, where she managed Pearson's business in academic qualificat­ions in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Premila has been instrument­al in introducin­g free, subject specific teacher training for teachers in the subcontine­nt. During the last two years, she introduced a teacher exchange programme where award winning teachers from Sri Lanka were sent to India and Pakistan as master trainers.

Prior to joining Edexcel, Premila has played many roles in the education field from teaching to education marketing and curriculum developmen­t in both academic and profession­al qualificat­ions. She is a past pupil of Methodist College Colombo. She holds a graduate diploma in IT, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administra­tion from Robert Gordon University, Scotland.
