AAT is the secret behind her success

-

She did not want to waste any time awaiting results and started on her AAT studies right after the GCE O/L exam and this was the secret on her recent success. This is the third time in the recent history AAT passed finalists secured the island’s first rank in the Commerce Stream at GCE A/L Examinations in the year 2010, 2012 and 2013.

AAT is a focused study course that a student can start right after O/Ls. Many students join AAT to utilize the short break they get till the results are released productively. AAT course can be pursued simultaneously with the GCE AL Commerce study stream and provides a recognized professional qualification for the students.

At present, there are many institutes that offer degrees, diplomas and courses in varied levels for the students. Ironically, most of them are concerned only with the income they would gain. “AAT Sri Lanka is a student focused totally independent body and not a profit-oriented organization. In today’s highly competitive market, AAT still maintains the lead by providing the most cost-effective foundation for professional qualifications’ said Mr Tishanga Kumarasinghe, CEO of AAT Sri Lanka.

Choosing the right institute for higher studies is not an easy task as it plays a major role on a student’s future success. The reputation of the institute chosen has a direct impact on future employment options or admission for further studies.

Erandhi Kanchana registered as a AAT student and completed all three stages of AAT prior to her GCE AL examination. By following AAT students gain confidence to face the GCE AL exam in a more positive note and the AAT makes their studies easier. This year also AAT expects considerable number of students among the top 100 at the A/Ls as last year there were 40 AAT students among the top 100 and 5 AAT students among the top 10.

The AAT qualification was recognized by the University of South Queensland (USQ). Australia recently. ‘ The students with AAT can directly apply for the MBA at the USQ, which is a great opportunity’ said Mr Kumarasinghe adding, ‘AAT is the ideal pathway to become a professional at a very young age’.

The AAT Sri Lanka was established as the outcome of a research carried out by Asian Development Bank which concluded that Sri Lanka needs young accounting professionals. The AATSL celebrated its Silver Jubilee last year and won the Gold Award at the recently concluded National Business Excellence Awards.

During the past 25 years, AAT has produced over 4,000 middle level accountants, more than 26,000 passed finalists and we have over 40,000 registered students across Sri Lanka following their studies in English, Sinhala and Tamil medium. AAT can be followed by students living in any part of the country as they have easy access to the course and the study materials. The examinations are conducted at island-wide centres in all 3 languages.

Additionally, there are 3 regional information centres in Jaffna, Kurunegala and Matara to serve the expanding student base and the students can avail all services available in Colombo through them. Annually over 20,000 candidates sit for the AAT exams and it is the largest national level examination after O/ Ls and A/Ls.

Erandhi Kanchana, the island first believes that by following AAT, she was able to gather the knowledge as well as the confidence needed to be successful at the A/L exam and the commitment she made was the key for her success. According to her completing all 3 stages of AAT was a clear advantage in this great achievement.
