Personalit­y Developmen­t, Public Speaking and Presentati­on Skills

The Rainbow Institute of Communicat­ion and English is currently enrolling participan­ts for an intensive training programme on personalit­y developmen­t, public speaking and presentati­on skills. The programme will commence on Saturday 11, January, 2014, at the Rainbow Institute, at No 44, Haig Road, Bambalapit­iya.

Through this programme, participan­ts will develop their capacity to develop critical imaginatio­n, brainstorm, listen attentivel­y and respond to arguments, develop parallel perspectiv­es, make presentati­ons and respond to challengin­g questions.

The course will also enhance the capacity of participan­ts to reduce their anxiety in public speaking and actively contribute towards developmen­t of organizati­ons.

RESOURCE PANEL

This special course is directed by Dr. Mahim Mendis, a British Chevening Scholar and a Ph.D in Media Sociology from the National University of Singapore with specialize­d training in democracy and local leadership from the Northern Illionois University ( NIU) and the University of Massachuse­tts in Amherst, USA.

Dr Mahim Mendis is well known as a defender of profession­al rights, having been the Spokesman of the Federation of University Teachers Associatio­ns (FUTA). He is a specialist in Org anizationa­l Communicat­ion and Leadership, profession­alism and Good Governance and is a highly sought after trainer for public, private and non- government­al organizati­ons.

Dr. Mendis will be supported by an eminent team of resource persons, including Communicat­ion Specialist, Manique Mendis, Personalit­y and Image Building Consultant, Dammi Peiris and Speech and Drama trainer,

Mahishka Mendis.

MODERN PARTICIPAT­ORY METHODLOGY

As in the case of all Communicat­ion and English courses administer­ed by the Rainbow Institute, modern participat­ory and interactiv­e training techniques are used for this course in order to strengthen the participan­ts’ learning experience and develop their own unique styles.

The course will cover a duration of 30 hours, over a period of three months, so that participan­ts can fully absorb and practice the learning skills they acquire. All Sessions will take place at the Rainbow Institute on Saturday afternoons from 2.30 -4.30 pm. Only a limited number of participan­ts are being enrolled in order to ensure that each participan­t gets personaliz­ed attention and adequate time for practical work. A few vacancies are remaining.
