When Tanya and Tammy Darmaratnam decided to go into business together, an unstoppable team was formed. The mother and daughter duo now run Taya – an online boutique that specialises in elegant, sophisticated designs. Their collection includes a range of beautiful dresses, skirts and blouses that would suit any occasion. “You will find that the entire collection is incredibly chic and elegant as each item is carefully handpicked and one of a kind,” they promise.

“We enjoy everything about it,” says Tanya, adding, “We respect each other for what we do best.” Tanya manages their Facebook page and handles the social media marketing activities. Tammy is responsible for much of the actual selection but discusses every item with Tanya before she commits. They’re looking not just for striking designs but ones that suit the climate as well. “Our designs range from little black dresses to animal prints and elegant stripes and vibrant colours,” they tell the Sunday Times.

The decision to go with an online boutique was an easy one. “It’s easy and convenient as you can shop from the comfort of your own home; no waiting in line to try on garments or pay for a purchase, and no need to circle the parking lot endlessly searching for a parking spot. The measurements of each item is given enabling one to determine if it’s your fit,” the say. They offer only one piece of each design but have over a hundred different designs to choos Prices range from about 2900 to 450 downside is that clothes cannot be t nor do they have a return or exchang cy. However, if you’ve got your meas ments right, you needn’t be worried.

Taya isn’t a full time commitment. works with her father as the Market Manager at The Film Team and Tamm very involved in the Christian ministr However, in their business, they’ve f something they both love to do. “One had noticed for a long time in my life my mum and I always had very simi and goals and one of them was her t clothing,” says Tanya. “We would of up choosing the same item of cloth my mum would say you buy it then a would say no let’s both buy it.” Whi ing their love of fashion into a busine made sense, it would only work if th it online.

It’s been fun so far. “I can’t think o ter business partner than Ammi,” sa Tanya. “A mother and a daughter kno other well and we can totally trust o another. There are not that many peo the world that one can trust complet that’s a huge thing when you’re runn business,” she says, adding “Beside what we enjoy the most is spending together!”
