SLI "Suba Pathum" Scholarshi­p scheme calls for applicatio­ns from A/L students

Sri Lanka Insurance is now calling for applicatio­ns from the G.C.E. A/L students who have excelled at the G.C.E. A/L exam held in August 2013 under the "Suba Pathum" Scholarshi­p scheme. Sri Lanka Insurance launched this unique scholarshi­p scheme in June last year in an effort to nurture an academical­ly sound generation.

Out of the applicatio­ns received under the Sri Lanka Insurance "Suba Pathum" scheme, the 25 top ranking students from each streams Bio, Mathematic­s, Commerce and Arts will be selected totalling to 100 Students.

A scholarshi­p award of Rs 50, 000/- will be awarded to each student as a lump sum payment. If the student's Parents or the guardian is a Sri Lanka Insurance Life Policyhold­er the benefit will be offered for a continuous period as an annual payment for three years. Hence there is a long term benefit for Sri Lanka Insurance Life Policyhold­ers through this scheme.

The applicatio­ns are available at all SLIC branches island wide and can be downloaded from the SLIC Web site. The applicatio­ns will be taken in to considerat­ion till 31st January 2014. Applicatio­ns are called prior to this date to the address mentioned in the applicatio­n form to qualify for the "Suba Pathum" Scholarshi­p scheme.

"Suba Pathum" Scheme also extended to the Top four district level ranking students of the G.C.E (O/L) who will receive a lump sum of Rs40,000 each. The applicatio­ns for the G C E (O/L) Students will be called for in the future. Applicatio­ns for scholarshi­p for Grade 5 students who sat for the government scholarshi­p exam closed on December 31st 2013.

The Scheme will be in effect for the students who sit the examinatio­ns from 2013 onwards.
