CHEMEX 3 Exhibition for life’s chemistry

The College of Chemical Sciences will hold its third CHEMEX 3 Exhibition from January 22 to 24, 2014, at Adamantane House in Rajagiriya. School principals and teachers involved in the subject have been asked to make use of this opportunit­y.

The exhibition is the outcome of experience gained over the past five years, where the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon was set up to develop the enhancemen­t, disseminat­ion and knowledge in Chemical Sciences amongst school children and the general public.

CHEMEX 3 Exhibition will be declared open by Mevan Pieiris a distinguis­hed past President of the institute at 9 am on Wednesday, January 22.

There will be a wide range of stalls and exhibits that will enable participan­ts and visitors to the Exhibition to learn and appreciate the contributi­on that Chemistry and Chemical Sciences have made and continue to do so in enhancing the life of citizens amidst global problems.

The stalls will include the areas of Food, Polymers, Chemistry-Industry Interactio­n, Environmen­t, Innovation, Research, Pharmaceut­icals, Nanotechno­logy and other emerging areas involving the applicatio­ns of Chemistry.

In addition to these stalls there will be plenty of entertainm­ent including dramas, Chemistry Magic and orchestral music.

Everyone, both young and old are assured of a productive, informativ­e and enlighteni­ng experience, a press release from the institute stated.

Schoolchil­dren and other large groups will be afforded concession­s for admission, for which they should apply early and book places, particular­ly, for the Chemistry Magic Shows, the statement added.
