Once the students complete the 1st 2 years of the 3 year Diploma they can opt for the Associate Degree in Physical Therapy at State University of New York at Canton. The university selects the students based on their performance during the 1st 2 years of studies at IIHS & the scholarships they offer to the students are also very lucrative from the student’s point of view to minimize the cost of studies in USA. All of the IIHS students in 2 different batches got scholarships when they were transferred to State University of New York at Canton (SUNY Canton). Students have to study 1.5 years at SUNY Canton USA to complete their Associate Degree & then they will be eligible to apply for the National Licensing Examination leading to the license to practice as an Assistant Physical Therapists in USA.

Roshan Indika Peiris one of the IIHS Physiotherapy students who transferred to SUNY Canton University – USA shared his view as below. I can’t imagine where I am just after four years. IIHS Diploma in Physiotherapy coupled with the Associate degree at SUNY Canton USA provides us a great platform to pass the National Licensing Exam in USA to become world class PTAs. I can’t imagine how I want to thank IIHS & SUNY Canton for directing us & providing us this lifelong opportunity. As the 1st batch of IIHS Physiotherapy students we opened a new leaf in Sri Lankan history of Physiotherapy by becoming the 1st ever Sri Lankan students to pass the National Licensing Examinations for PTA’s in USA & to become Assistant Physiotherapists in USA. Not only that we all fared well during the studies in USA & got through our Associate Degree with the highest honors.

Currently all four of us work in New York City as Assistant Physiotherapists and it was the best achievement we have ever obtained in our lives. We really want to thank IIHS & SUNY Canton University for providing us this great opportunity.
