Gataway to a Noble Career....

CINEC Campus located in a picturesque location in Malabe is one of the best private campuses offering a wide range of degrees, post graduate and diploma courses for the youth. Being the pioneer in training and education, CINEC is now offering three Teacher Training Diplomas with a view of producing qualified and competent English medium as well as English language & literature teachers.

Most education systems have not fundamentally changed for a long period. The question that many are asking is whether these systems can still meet the needs of future generations. The biggest problem found in International and English medium private schools in Sri Lanka today is the lack of qualified and competent teachers with a proper and systematic training. An increasing demand exists in society today for certified and qualified English language and English medium teachers. If you are a teacher or prospective teacher and are interested in adding a recognized qualification to your resume, consider these Diplomas for teaching English Language & Literature, Primary curriculum and Science and Mathematics.

It has been found that not only insufficient knowledge of the English language but also the lack of subject knowledge is leading the standards of education to a pathetic situation. The three diploma programmes, Diploma in Teaching English Language & Literature, Diploma in Primary Teaching and Diploma in Teaching Science and Mathematics have been scientifically designed enabling the youth of our country to gain a profound knowledge of respective subject areas. This series of teacher training programmes is conducted by a panel of qualified and well- experienced lecturers who have been lecturing at universities and government teacher training colleges. It is a great opportunity for anyone aspiring to become an English/ Literature or English medium teacher to undergo the training programmes conducted by a panel of lecturers who are academically and professionally qualified with local and foreign experience in teacher training.

The majority of the parents in today’s society mostly depend on private tuition to give a quality standard education to their children. It has been found that the majority of students who study at International and English medium private schools attend tuition classes after school hours in spite of paying for their school education. In most of the private English medium schools, there are only a few teachers who are properly trained and qualified. Insufficient knowledge of education, education psychology, child psychology, school counselling and guidance, measurement and evaluation as well as soft skills for teachers which are essentially important for Teacher Training courses has affected largely in the whole educational system in most of the English medium schools. Another problem faced by the youngsters is the lack of English knowledge required to become an English medium teacher. At CINEC, English is taught for all diploma programmes as a compulsory subject. It

has been prioritized and additional attention is given to improve English knowledge and Presentation Skills of the trainees throughout the course. Trainees are encouraged to deliver various types of presentations enabling them to improve instructional skills and enhance their confidence as a teacher.

Teaching practice is another important component of these courses. The trainees are required to attend lectures for ten months and during the last two months, they are sent for teacher training practice at selected International and English medium private schools.

The other advantage for the students is that they will get an opportunity to follow these courses at a recognized university in a real university educational environment. Comfortable lecture halls equipped with modern facilities, shuttle service from and to Malabe, library facilities, swimming pool, cafeteria are some of the facilities available at CINEC Campus, and the internationally awarded standards maintained are also an assurance of quality education and training at CINEC Campus.
