all those who come to the Exhibition, to learn and appreciate the wonderful and memorable contributi­on that Chemistry and the Chemical Sciences has made and continues to do in enhancing the life of all citizens in the midst of global problems . These will include the areas of Food, Polymers, and Chemistry - Industry interactio­n. Environmen­t, Innovation, Re sea rch , Pharmaceut­icals, Nanotechno­logy and other emerging areas involving the applicatio­ns of chemistry.. There will be plenty of amusement including dramas, Chemistry Magic and an Orchestra. Everyone, young and old , are assured of a productive, informativ­e and enlighteni­ng experience.

Following on the experience gained in 2009 when the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, which is the profession­al body incorporat­ed by Act of Parliament to further the profession of Chemistry in Sri Lanka and develop the enhancemen­t and dissemmina­tion of knowledge in the Chemical Sciences amongst school children and the general public of Sri Lanka, organized two CHEMEX Exhibition­s to mark the Internatio­nal Year of Chemistry , the College of Chemical Sciences is holding the third of such Chemistry Exhibition­s from January 22nd to 24th at Adamantane House ( near the Rajagiriya Post Office) . The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon has invited Principals and Chemistry teachers in Sri Lankan schools to make use of this wonderful opportunit­y to know more about the applicatio­ns of Chemistry for national developmen­t and in daily life.

Professor J N Oleap Fernando, Honorary Rector of the College of Chemical Sciences, which as the educationa­l arm of the College has been very successful in conducting two formal educationa­l programmes at the technician and graduate levels over the past 40

years, states in a media release that the CHEMEX 3 Exhibition, which will be declared open by Mevan Pieiris, a distinguis­hed Past President of the Institute and who has had a long and outstandin­g career in the private sector , at 9 am on Wednesday January 22nd . The Exhibition is being held in the extended space at the College premises in order to commemorat­e the completion of 40 years of profession­al chemical education in Sri Lanka.
