After a highly professional selection process conducted by the local office of Allianz Insurance, two lucky and potential young footballers will stand a chance to be a part of the high profile training camp, held between August 20 to 25.

“Allianz Lanka, the fully owned subsidiary of the largest insurance conglomerate in the world, Munich based, Allianz S.E have stepped in once again to provide world class coaching experience for two deserving youth footballers at FC Bayern Munchen in Germany. Last year Allianz Lanka created opportunity to local youth football players to represent Sri Lanka, at Allianz Junior Football Camps held in Germany and Thailand,” an official statement issued by Allianz said.

This year’s hunt for two deserving youth footballers will be selected via a countrywide request for applications through mainstream media. In addition a large force of members from the Allianz staff in 50 branch locations in the country will be engaged in sourcing candidates for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for passionate youth football players in Sri Lanka.

“Applications can be sourced from our website, www.allianz.lk and duly completed applications forms should be handed over to any of the Allianz branches islandwide or can be sent through post to Allianz Global Junior Football Camp 2014, Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd, 92, Glennie Street, Colombo 2 before June 25,” the statement further said.

The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview conducted by senior Allianz officials and football experts. Two contenders will be picked for the final programme considering their passion for football, sports achievements, character and ambitions.

“The two young footballers are billed to join another 100 of youth from 30 countries in Munich from August 20 to 25 at the famous Allianz Arena. Parental and school authorities’ approval will be a must for the candidates and Allianz Lanka will take care of the cost of the overall programme, including travelling and visa processing,” it went on to say.

Last year, Isuru Weerasinghe of Badulla Central College and Roshen Subash of Holy Cross College Kalutara were the two lucky winners who participated at the FC Bayern Munchen training programme held in Munich, Germany. Subash, a star national junior football player in the country shared his experience at the Allianz Arena in Munchen.

“Participating in the Allianz Global Junior Football Camp last year, was a wonderful experience. I learnt a lot from FC Bayern Munchen coaching staff. Training and making friends alongside 75 fellow players from 23 different countries was great and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”. In addition Ranju Silva and Abdul Afrar had the fortune to represent Sri Lanka at the coaching camp held in Thailand. Silva was from De Mazenod College Kandana and Afrar came from Jamaliya Central College in Trincomalee.

“Allianz truly understands the role of sports in creating a sustainable living and a just society. As a global giant, Allianz takes pride in connecting FC Bayern Munchen expertise to local stars. Last year we realized the value of providing opportunities for our local stars and international exposure which creates stronger belief systems to bring out the best of human potential,” stated Surekha Alles, the Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Lanka.

The two winners who will represent Sri Lanka at this year’s training programme will be declared on July 16 at an official event, where last year’s Allianz Junior Football stars will join this year’s winners.
