‘Akarsha’ ready to release

‘Sinhawalok­anaya’ famed director Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa’s newest film ‘Akarsha’, a romantic movie that discusses the need to heal the wounds of a long dragged on war in Sri Lankan, is ready for release.

Shot in the backdrop of a war the film portrays a love affair between a beautiful Tamil music teacher and a Sinhala army officer. The role of the Tamil teacher is played by South and North Indian actress Puja Uma Shankar. For the first time in ‘Akarsha’ Puja performs her role with her original voice. The film also introduces Yasas Ratnayake, Army Commander Daya Ratnayake’s son.

Among the other stars who play are Maulee Mathisha, Sriyani Amerasena, Dushyantha Weeraman, W. Jayasiri, Douglas Ranasinghe, Dharshan Dharmaraj, Anandika Kumarasing­he, Charith Abeysinghe, Nadaraja Sivam, Jayalal Rohana, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela, Ramani Siriwarden­a and many more.

The screenplay of ‘Akarsha’ is written by Saman Weeraman and it is produced by Prabath Chaminda Perera, Harish Uddika Mahadiwulw­ewa, Nalin Nishantha Dharmapriy­a and Leel Prasanna Dissanayak­e for ‘Akarsha’ film production­s.

Prabath Rohana handles the camera, and Shan Alwis edits, Ajith Hathwella does the art direction, Tharaka Adhikari the make up, Dharshana Ruwan Dissanayak­e the music and the media coordinato­r is Anton J. Fernando.
